Sami_Brothers_1200x1200About Sami Ghosn & Massaya Wines

Massaya is a family-run Lebanese winery and arak distillery founded by the Ghosn brothers, Sami and Ramzi, in 1998, situated in the northern Beqaa Valley.

Their story is closely tied to the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1990), which had a devastating impact on the country. Many people were left with no choice but to flee the war zone, including Sami, aged 9, and his brother Ramzi, who escaped in their mother’s Volvo, leaving everything behind.

17 years later, after the war, Sami returned home from the U.S. to reclaim what was rightfully his. With a desire to revitalize the industry and breathe new life into their heritage, the brothers teamed up with French winemakers to blend local tradition with international expertise. Together, they have transformed the estate into a successful winery, making Massaya a symbol of Lebanon’s resilience and its revival in the world of winemaking after the civil war.
