Micheladas

Complete your summer, fajita feast with a spicy cocktail!

Ingredients

  • 1 Lime
  • Coarse salt and a pinch of chilli powder, tipped onto a plate
  • 4-5 Ice cubes
  • 50ml Tomato juice
  • Good dash of hot sauce (preferably a Mexican variety but Tabasco will substitue)
  • Good dash of worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bottle of chilled beer (use a light mexican lager if possible)

Method

  1. Take a large glass and moisten the rim with a lime wedge, then dip in the salt mix.
  2. Saving a slice for the garnish, squeeze the juice from the rest of the lime into the glass.
  3. Add ice cubes, tomato juice and sauces, then top up with beer.
  4. Give it all a gentle stir and decorate with the slice of lime before serving.

If you're not partial to tomato juice and hot sauce, leave these out to make a variation known as a chelada.
